IIRC

Two posidrive screws to remove the black trim on the cluster.

Then 4 screws around cluster, pull cluster out.

Make sure you pull the stearing wheel asdjustment right out and lock it to it's lowest point to give you clearance .

Thanks mate all done but cannot find the replacement for it the nr is 7M5920900 g. Found one on eBay but there is Difference in the last letter

I have the same problem but when I look at the diagnostics it said it was speed sensor A. It that one that is in the gearbox or is it on the road wheels?

I dont think that the problwm in with the gauges but I could be wrong! any experts out there?

lots of red herring's here ......check your wires in doors and tailgates & on battery

Check the wiring's intact first, you could end up with same problem on a 'new' cluster.

Check doors & tailgate, I vaguely recall a member had a chafed loom behind the cluster.

Hi I just thought I'd add an extra comment, I've been having gearbox problems (mine's a 1.9 tdi auto) and I replaced the harness for the autobox. This was not actually the problem (i've still yet to sort that out) but what I found was after putting the secondhand harness on the fuel gauge fluctuated wildly including the fuel reserve warning and the speedo was in-op. Swopping back to the original harness resolved this so if it's an auto I would be looking in the direction of the gearbox harness.

Hi thanks for your point. I tried the other cluster bought it from eBay, had already ordered it by the time I saw forum. Did not work same problem. My galaxy is manual 2001 1.9 tdi. Where would I find the gearbox harness. If you know pls explain if possible thanks.
